As a result, this matter is now before the courts, and it is no longer appropriate for Barro to make any public comment in respect to the operations of the landfill.<\/p>\n

Between late November 2023 and the end of January 2024, a drilling program will be carried out to enable monitoring of gas within the landfill. This is required to understand the status of the last remaining hotspot within the landfill. The drilling program is expected to last for approximately 35 business days. Air Quality testing undertaken by Sunshine Landfill is independently analysed, verified and shared with the EPA, which states that \u201cair quality monitoring has found no issues of concern with respect to human health to date and it expects there will continue to be no health impacts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Air quality is measured against four key substances, which are carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide and volatile organic compounds, which are a group of carbon-based chemicals that easily evaporate.<\/p>\n
